Are they oriental lilies? My oriental lilies have not sprouted yet. I am afraid they are dead:(

They are asiatics and Orienpet lilies. My orientals have not broken surface yet.

I love to see the new green shoots appear in the spring, but inevitably, when cleaning out the old winter mulch and spot weeding, I always manage to hook a shoot in my small trowel or step on one. It almost bring tears. I've lost two so far this year even though I try to be so careful. Sigh. . .

OUTSTANDING! I have a few Muscadet and Casa Blanca Orientals that are starting to come up.

Three years ago I bought some lilies at Home Depot that were labeled "Pink" - so, I don't know what variety (they are a nice salmony pink with some spotting). But, they appear to be LA hybrids based on the flower form and fragrance. The year I bought them, 3 pots with 3 bulbs per pot, they got about 30" high. The next year, about 4 and a half feet, and last year 6' high with 13-16 flowers per stem. They have been increasing steadily, this year there are 21 fat stems, they broke through the ground about two weeks ago and are now between 12 and 18 inches high. I have been calling them my Jurassic Park lilies, and joking about how I need to board up the doors and windows (anybody ever see that movie called "The Day of the Triffids?"), we'll just have to wait and see how tall they get this year.....
