Where to plant easter lillies/ lillies in general

Posted by wannaflower 6 (My Page) on

I am very VERY new to gardening & have an easter lily question. When transplanting the potted plant outside, which side of the house should I plant it on? What kind of light? Are all lillies the same when it comes to planting & care? (In zone 6)
Thanks for any input.

Plant it in full sun for best flowering & put some bonemeal in the bottom of the hole or bulb food on top of the planting hole. It may or may not bloom next year since it was forced. It will bloom the year after & from then on. Always leave the foliage on a lily to yellow/brown completely after flowering to feed the bulb for next years flowers. No all lilies are not the same but planting depth is about the same. Madonna Lilies only go 1 to 2" deep while most other lily bulbs go 6" deep.
