Monster Easter lilies menacing roses. Must move. When?

The Easter lilies I planted in one of my rose beds in '05 were about a yard tall last spring and looked great. They're truly awesome this spring, but at nearly 6', they're way, WAY too big for the bed. The roses in this bed are on the small side and the lilies and their multitude of progeny appear to be doing their darnedest to evict them. I really need to get them into a bed of their own, or at least move them to a bed where they'll have larger, more assertive rose neighbors.

When is the safest time of the year to move them? Is there any special concerns I need to know about? I'm in north Louisiana, zone 8, and the lilies began opening blooms a few days ago.

Lilium longiflorum, I think.
