I've grown it several years now, purchased as a potted, growing specimen...

Needs good drainage but manages my wet winters without trouble. No insect or disease issues, I do bait for slugs as it's emerging in Spring. It does get some supplemental water in Aug, Sept, my dry months.

Don't plan on it making a tidy dense clump as it matures, it is 'stoloniferous'...spreads and pops up in places that could surprise you by being some feet from the original planting. But never really in the way, just a slender stem you could find arising above and in the middle of a clump of something else :)

I dug through the area where mine has been growing for another reason last year and put all the found bulbs back closer together, we'll see how they perform this year -
And, it hasn't self sown at all for me but does start easily from gathered seed sown in pots, covered with grit, left outdoors in Fall.
