Lilies much taller - flat stem

Hi -

I have three lilies that are 3 years old...this year they are very tall with a flat straplike stem and many small buds on the top....they haven't bloomed yet. I am wondering if I should dig them up and discard them after they bloom....the flat stem is kind of weird looking!

I am a novice at lily growing, so curious to see what any of you can tell me about this!

Google on 'fasciation'. Perfectly harmless & will disappear next year. Meanwhile you'll have a lot more flowers than the bulb would normally be able to produce.

Thank you for this information. I did "google" fasciation and learned a lot! It was comforting to know more about this and realize that the lilies will probably be okay next year!

Fasciation can occur on any lilies, no specific type.
