Hi,

I planted 40 oriental and asiatic lily bulbs last year and only about 7 are growing. I planted them really late in the season (maybe May of last year), but that's when they were for sale. I had a few that grew a foot or two tall later that summer-- one bloomed in August, but this year the few that came up are still only two feet tall and only two have bloomed. My grandmother swears they take 3 years to get established, but I'm going to be terribly disappointed if they don't grow any more than they have! I planed them on a slightly sloping hill b/w a stair railing and a not-so-bushy 8 foot tall japanese maple. I would say they get light shade, and otherwise a fair amount of sun. I planted them about 6 inches deep and about 6-8 inches apart. I believe I followed the planting directions on the box-- any advise???
