lily from the valley of the jolly green giant?

I have a lily that is currently 4'3" tall and still pushing up. There are at least 18 buds at this point and the base of the stem at ground level reminds me of the stem of an artichoke. Sadly, I don't know what kind it is other than it's very fragrant and the flower petals transition from deep mauve to pale cream with spots. It's growing in full sun with nice loose sandy loam enriched with compost.

My question is how should I handle this monster? Should I stake it? Is there something I should do to feed it? I'm a bit worried that it'll "burn out" since it's gotten so huge this year.

All thoughts and suggested appreciated.

thnx
