Should be ok. I planted some Stargazers in a large pot one spring then planted in the ground in the fall, bloomed fine the following year. And I wasn't super careful how I did it; they had developed quite a bit of roots I tried to keep as well as I could. They're getting crowded out by other stuff that wants to take over now.

I started with one Harvest Moon Echinacea near the lilies, now I have tons of volunteers around there. They fit in pretty well, so I'll keep them, but they are the more common pinkish ones, guess they blew in from somewhere.

i see you read my question. when we planted ours, they did not bloom the first year. now this year, they are no princess lilies anymore. they are bright yellow. they are still attractive and have several large blooms on each stalk. after not growing last year, i wasn't expecting much, but they are huge. a couple of them are almost three feet tall this year. can't wait to see what they do next year.
