Hot, dry climate - when to plant longiflorum?

Almeria

Hello, I am quite new to gardening and planted my first lilies this year. Loved them and I am now wanting MORE! Only thing that disappointed me was the lack of scent (still don't know exactly what they were as things out here often don't have any detailed labelling). I now have the chance to buy some longiflorum bulbs. I am not really too sure about identification but I think here in Spain I have seen this type (big, white, scented trumpets?) flowering in May. So would I be mad to plant these now, or is it worth the risk, or should I store them in the fridge or a cool(ish) dry shed for the rest of the year and plant in spring?

The climate here is hot and dry. We rarely, if ever, have frost. The lilies I tried this spring were in pots but, if possible, I wouldn't mind trying these ones in the ground. Otherwise, pots fine.

Any advice very gratefully received.

Thanks very much
