One wholesaler calls them OTs in its catalog. I like that name much better.

i planted some orienpet's a few weeks ago and all my other bulbs i planted with them are now shooting up. the oreinpet's aren't there. did i do something wrong? i planted all about 2-4" deep. and the weather has been really nice, sunny with few days of rain. wish i had a digital cam to show you all the beautifull little buds coming out of the ground. and their neat differences.

I'm not that experienced a lily gardener, but I do know that whenever I've planted my lily bulbs, I've always planted them about 8-9" deep. The nurseries I got the bulbs from said 6-8" deep, and another lily nursery recommended I plant her Orienpets 9" deep. She said that between doing that and keeping them in full sun, I might not have to stake them when they are mature. I'm also in zone 5a. I'm wondering if you might want to replant them before the snow flies.....anyone else here want to give input? :0) Phyl

Far as I know there are a few kinds of lilies that are planted shallowly, but the OTs are not one of them. They should be planted deeper. I try for about 8 inches, will settle for 6! :- )

Were the other bulbs you planted of the "minor" varieties, scilla, crocus, chionodoxas, etc.? Those are the ones that you can plant fairly shallowly, probably others I don't know about. It might be a good idea to research planting depths on google for your specific bulbs.

If yours are not planted deep enough you might be able to get away with piling on the mulch/compost. That's a lot easier than trying to find the ones you planted without spearing them.
