Broken Lily stem

A rambunctious cat or dog ran through the garden and felled a lily that is already showing buds. It is sitting in a vase right now, but is there any hope for it? Will it bloom?

Hate it when that happens!

Whether you will get anything out of it depends on how developed the buds are to this point. If they are half or more as large as they would have gotten, you probably have a good chance that at least the largest ones will open. They will likely be smaller and not as intensely colored as they would have had the stem not been broken. I have a stem of 'Black Beauty' sitting in a glass of water right now with the largest bud about 3/4 of an inch long - it would have been 4" long just before it opened, so I am not very hopeful but am being the optimistic gardener. Either way, neither of us has anything to lose by just seeing what happens!
