Trumpets are not very hardy, here. That's a gorgeous colour!

What a gorgeous color! You sure know how to grow em. I have such a slug problem that I can only grow Orientals, and they chew those too.

I have plenty of slugs but they don't seem to bother this one. It's very hardy and clearly slugs don't like it. It is now 6 1/2 feet tall, needs staking, obviously. But for years it was a mere 4 1/2 feet, which is why I did not see it blooming until I started pruning the tree.

One slug deterrent: I put pennies on top of the ground all through my garden. Slugs hate copper so they usually don't cross the pennies. Perhaps you could put a ring of pennies around your trumpet lilies. It's cheap and effective.

Lovely, Lainie! Trumpet lilies have come back well for me. I think it helps that they are such tall plants- harder for the slugs to chew. And they smell so good, too. I am going to try some Orienpets next to see if the trumpet genes make them a lot better than the Oriental lilies I have.
