Sickly Asian Lillys

I have some asian lillies that did very well for a long time in my front yard until the trees over grew them, shading them out and making them sickly. I thought I had moved all of them to a nice sunny spot 2 years ago but even in bright full sun they have never regained their full health and seem stunted. they are much smaller (not over 1 foot tall) and many still do not bloom after 2 seasons in the sun? They were planted in a bed that was thoroughly roto tilled with seasoned burro manure. Anyone have any ideas as to what might be the problem? Also one of them got what looked to be a flower bud on top but it never actually bloomed just opened up to reveal what look to me like seeds, I thought the bulbs split to produce new plants but I am no expert!

I would appreciate any help

The close-up shows aborted flower buds at the top of the stem. This often happens when a bulb is only about flowering size, and gets checked in some way. The other picture seems to show a stem, behind the one with the aborted buds, which has died. If that is a lily stem, I'd suspect a cutural problem - perhaps a drainage issue which has resulted in the base plate rotting.

LILIUM DISEASES

Stem canker causes cankers at the base of the stem. The roots decay as the disease progresses.

Chlorosis may be due to iron deficiency or overwatering.

Manganese and aluminum salts sometimes cause leaf scorch. One half inch of the leaf tips yellow then turn brown. Adding lime will reduce the browning.

Bud blast, is the drying up and failure of flower buds to open. Possible causes are root injury, cold soil, high temperatures during cloudy weather, and excessive shading.

The lower leaves drop if the plant receives insufficient light.
