Poor drainage

Going to plant lily bulbs in an new bed but drainage is not as good as I would like. Would putting an inch or two of pea gravel or sand in the bottom of hole be a good or bad thing?

Have raised the bed level a little but not possible to do much more in this location.

Hi Marlene,
You will probably just have to try it.
My Aunt who lives on the soggy west coast has the most gorgeous lilies and they get lots of water.
Usually they suggest that pea gravel or sand in the bottom of the hole causes the water to sit there........
