Several species are used for food, as far as I know. The Chinese Pharmacopeia includes L. lancifolium, L. brownii and L. pumilum in Bai He, L. longifolium is cultivated for food in Japan.

It seems lily bulbs are extremely healthy - rich in protein, calcium, phosphorus, iron, vitamins B1, B2, C, pantothenic acid, beta carrotene and anti-oxidants. The lily-colchicines and other plant alkaloid turn out to be very beneficial. Like green tea, these may be used to prevent cancer. No wonder "lily powder" (the last image) has been invented.
