We had a rainey cold spring here too and my orientals are taller than ever! I can't see how lower than normal temps could make them simply dissapear.

I've lost many orientals over the years, and finally learned to really mulch them over the winter, and remove mulch gently as they emerge. Also learned that heavy clay soil over the winter can be a killer.

This summer has been the worse I can ever remember. June/July was cold and wet. However, my lilies never looked so good. They were fabulous. This was the best year and they were very tall, but tons of buds which all opened.

So strange!
