Please note that Lilies need cold period during winter (about 6-8 weeks) for a blooming, so they might not bloom in CA.

I am not sure what the winters are like out there other than it can get cold at night and the days are even milder than it has been up here lately. We are going from a zone 4-5 to a 9-11.
Does anyone else have any tips on moving them. I just keep reading that they need to be transplanted to a pot with soil. Can you dry out the bulbs and move them? Or do they need to stay moist w/out rotting them?

Please inspect your lilies VERY carefully so you don't inadvertently transport the Red Lily Leaf Beetle across the country. In fact it might be wiser to just buy new lilies in San Diego instead. They're not that expensive and lilies reproduce quickly. I've got an infestation in my lilies and I also live in Upstate NY - they've spread from New England in the past few years. Please reconsider before you move anything. This pest is extremely hard to control.
