A few of the buds on my beautiful Le Reve lilies turned brown while still very very small, and , therefore, did not bloom. This is the first year I ever had this problem.

Fortunately, most of the buds did NOT turn brown, and, at this moment, I have many beautiful and fragrent flowers. Next to them is a clump of Shasta Daisies ("Crazy Daisies") and, toward the front, three heavily blooming purple scabiosa ("pincushion flowers"). The bed looks gorgeous.

However, I am worried about next year. Does anyone know what may have caused the bud damage on my lilies and how I can avoid it for next year?

(On my stargazers and Casa Blanca lilies, which have not yet bloomed, I only lost one bud. But I like the Le Reve best.)
