Wait for the capsules to dry on the plant. As they begin to change color, keep an eye on them as they will begin to "crack". Lily pods don't bust open and explode their seeds once they ripen so as they begin to show signs of cracking open, harvest the pods and hang them upside down, enclosed in a paper bag, in a cool and airy condition. The seed will continue to dry over the course of a few days and you'll have your seeds safe and ready to sow. Just give the bags a shake every once in a while to ensure good drying and to release the papery seeds from the capsule.

It's good to know that they won't explode their seed if I turn my back on them for a moment.

This is my first season with Lankongense and I'm really happy with them. Though I saw pictures of them before hand I was surprised at just how dainty a lily it is in both foliage and bloom. And, it has the most lovely scent, sweet like a rose.

I grew a few little bulblets from seed that I planted out last summer. With my limited seed success, and natural lack of patience, I also got some bulbs from the Species Lily Preservation Group's Fall bulb sale. Those are probably the plants that produced blooms, though the way they wandered around before coming up I really couldn't tell which plant came from which bulb.

If nothing happens to the seed capsules (no critters, flood, or whatnot), they look fertile, and, most importantly, if I have enough sense to remember! I'll be glad to share some seed. :)

Now if I can just keep my two lone surviving L. Taliense bulblets alive 'til next year (I'm definitely in the flat part of the learning curve with seed growing) maybe I can get blooms from them!
