Hooray! Stargazers are blooming!

The cheap bag of Stargazers bought last year are blooming their heads off! My question is how well do these multiply? What should I do to insure that they multiply? Will I find bulbils like my asiatics?

They don't multiply that quickly (and not by bulbils). My 4 year old plants have produced only a few offsets on their own. Since they're cheap, If you want more it's probably easiest to buy the bulbs (Van Engelen are listing them at 5/$7.50). Even the potted plants are cheap - I got pots of stargazers with 4 plants each for $6.99 at Lowe's this year.

You could try scaling or looking for stem bulblets this Fall - but that seems like a lot of effort, and a long wait for blooms, for a popular lily that is readily available at affordable prices. Then again, I'm not the most patient person in the world! :)

Of course, the reason Stargazer is so popular is that its an easy-to-grow beautiful lily that will "bloom its heads off!" Wait til next year, as your plants get older they'll get even more blooms. Mine now have 9-12 blooms per plant. So they'll look like they've multiplied!

Thanks Helen! I was hoping they would be like my Asiatics. Oh well! I need to buy other varieties anyway now that I am hooked on Lillies!
