Did the lilies already flower once ? If so, these might be seed pods. Where are they on the lily stem ?

I would usually snip or pinch them off, so that the plant puts it's energy into storing food for the winter in the bulb, as opposed to making seeds.

Bulbils, not seeds. Little bulbs that are identical to the parent and grow from the buds in the axils, as opposed to the dry papery things in the pods which swell up from where the flower has fallen.

I've never noticed bulbils doing much harm to the parent bulb, but you might want to remove them if you don't want something spreading beyond it's allotted limits.

Whether allowing a lily to seed automatically weakens it, I've always been in two minds about - but allowing seedlings to grow up amongst the parent plants has obvious disadvantages (ruins the colour scheme if the new plant is obviously different, confuses the identity of the original if it isn't).

I was transplanting my calla lily today. Down in the roots there was something that looked like a lime. It had one tiny sprout on it. What is this? I just placed it ba k in the pot with it.
