Asiatic Lily Satin Slippers?

| I purchased this lily at B and B Bulbs last spring labeled as Satin Slippers. The pics are taken on its second day after opening. The petals does not recurve like SS and the color is different from B&B's catalog.

I purchased these same bulbs and I do not believe they are Satin Slippers. The Lily Register lists them:
Inside soft pink over cream, with a frosty white throat, outside dark rose pink; brown spots over half of each petal; nectaries greenish; pollen brown. Fls l4Omm wide; petals 70 x 30mm, margins slightly ruffled, tips strongly recurved. Lvs alternate, 100 x 8mm, dark green. Stems 1.2m, green, with up to 58 well-spaced fls in a large inflorescence. Midseason.
Mine didn't have enough spots or a white throat. I wrote to the supplier and got no response. |

| mainiac, I have just checked the email I sent the supplier last Aug. 30th. I haven't got a response up until now. I will send another email because Satin Slippers is not the only one mislabeled. I ordered twice during their spring sale. I am not impressed with B and B's Customer Service. American Meadows have excellent Customer Service and to be fair with KVBWholesale/VanBourgondien, theirs is excellent too based on my experience. mori1 thank you for the ID. I will google search it and will let you know the result. |

I did my search and Colosseo's flower is upfacing whereas this one is downfacing. Colorwise, Colosseo is darker. I think this lily is a breeder's cull.

| I also received these mislabeled bulbs from Brent & Becky. They are not Satin Slippers for certain. They are also not a grower's culls. This is a very desirable registered variety. I believe they are Pearl Jessica, a new downfacing tetraploid Asiatic bred by Robert Griesbach. See picture on The Lily Nook website in Canada. The link between B&B and The Lily Nook? Same grower in Holland. |

Hi mnlily, I checked lilynook and I agree that it is Pearl Jessica. When I did my first search at lily nook, the only variety that came close to compare it with is Circus Crowd. CC has no spots while PJ has few spots in them.

| This is interesting because I ordered Pearl Jessica in the spring from the Lily Nook and was sent the wrong lily. Another one(Orange Jewell) was wrong as well. When I placed my fall order I mentioned it and they replied and said they discovered in the summer the whole case of Pearl Jessica was wrong. I think I received a Pink Giant which I had already ordered instead. That made it easy to identify anyways! I still don't know what I got instead of Orange Jewell. Maybe if both companies deal with the same supplier you guys got my Pearl Jessica!! |
