Lily identification and information

I purchsed some bulbs from a fundraiser a few years ago. They were listed in the pamphlet as "asiatic hybrid tiger lilies." Could someone who knows better than I confirm if these are tiger lilies, asiatic lilies, or something else? They each have one very thick, tall (about 4-5' tall) stem with leaves coming right off the stem all the way up, and the flowers are abundant at the top as you'll see in the picture.

A few weeks ago I started noticing the leaves on these plants, starting at the bottom and going upward, have begun to turn brown and die. It's rather unsightly. They've not done this in past years that I can recall. Is this normal for this to happen in August? Is it just what they do when they're finished for the season? Or could it be due to too much rain - we have had an exorbinant amount of rain here in SE PA this summer, and I've lost a lot of plants to it.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Kym
