dividing orientpet lilies

I started to get smaller stems coming up along the large main stems so I figured it was time to divide. The info I got said to do it about 4 weeks after blooms were complete. I lifted the plants and found the 'bulbs' but some of the bulbs came apart into what I will call cloves for lack of a better term. Will each of the cloves that make up the 'bulbs' grow into a plant? Am I suppose to replant the entire bulb ( made up of many of the smaller cloves ) or do I split these up and plant the cloves.

I apologize for the lackof correct terminology.

Thanks

Rick

PS. I hope to plant some of these in Zone 3 do you think they are hardy enough?
