Most likely sooty mould, which develops when the leaves get covered in sugary aphid poo. Unsightly, but it does little long-term damage. Check the plants for aphids and then deal with them. Sometimes it's worth checking adjoining plants - the 'spray' can drift around a bit. I've even had sooty mould develop from particularly sugary flower nectar falling onto plants beneath.
