you're probably thinking of the species lily, lilium pumilum. It is usually red but there is a variety "yellow bunting" that, as its name suggests, is yellow. Brent and Beckys has the red one for sale. Pacific Rim Native Plant Nursery carries both forms, as well as a lot of other species lilies. Because Pacific Rim is in Canada, US customers have to pay for a phytosanitary certificate ($12) in addition to shipping, but no other import permits are required.

I haven't had much success with lilium pumilum or the related species lilium cernuum. I think my Maryland clay, even when amended, is too heavy for its little bulbs. They come up but don't do much. Because its bulbs are smaller than other lilies, with more delicate foliage, these should only be planted a few inches deep. But even after correcting for that and moving them I had a second season with just a little more of the same thing (a few more bulbs produced a bit of strappy foliage and not much else). I'm going to move them again this fall and make a raised bed filled with potting soil and extra vermiculite for them, and see if that works. If you have good garden loam in your beds and don't plant them too deep you should be fine.
