Last fall I divided a massive 'Scheherazadee'. All of the huge bulbs from this plant came up this year but one. I had assumed that voles had eaten it or it had rotted. However, this afternoon while preparing a hole for a replacement, what should I discover but this very bulb looking utterly unchanged from last year: huge (8" plus diameter) and healthy (firm, not falling apart), but w/ no basal roots and no stem. What's going on? I put the bulb back in the ground, but I wonder if some of you might have a suggestion for helping my Sleeping Beauty break her dormancy?
