When to divide & replant rain lilies

I offered to share some of my red rain lily bulbs with a friend out of state then realized that I know nothing about lilies, bulbs, transplanting, nothing. She is in lower Florida and I am in upper Gulf Coast, Texas so climate isn't a problem. But...

When is the best time to dig them up? Do I dry them out before shipping or ship them as soon as they are out of the ground? Best way to ship?

Zephyranthes can be divided late summer to early fall and then replanted. For shipping I would clead the soil from the bulb and then wrap it in a damp paper then seal it in a "zip lock" type bag tape it closed then ship. The paper is DAMP not dripping wet.

Thanks. Sounds like I better get busy and get them shipped out.
