RE: proverb about lilies

I love the verse from the Holy Bible about lilies, too:

"Why do you worry about what to wear? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin; yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire...Will he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?" (Matthew 6: 25-34) So do not worry.

RE: proverb about lilies

The last verse of a poem by San Juan de la Cruz (St. John of the Cross)

Quedéme, y olvidéme,
El rostro recliné sobre el Amado,
Cesó todo, y dejéme,
Dejando mi cuidado,
Entre las azucenas olvidado.

Lost to myself I stayed
My face upon my lover having laid
From all endeavour ceasing:
And all my cares releasing
Threw them amongst the lilies there to fade.

(The "lover" here is God.)
