You're probably thinking of Lycoris Squamigera....the Resurrection Lily. You might want to google/image it to make sure...but I'm pretty sure that's what you're talking about. I've never grown it or even seen it in person, but have read about it and seen photos. Hope this helps. :0) Phyl

There are other lilies like you describe, that are something other than Lycoris Squamigera, but the name escapes me.

I think you for sure have the Lycoris Squamigera, as the others, I'm fairly certain, would not survive Ohio winters.

These do not like to be disturbed, and though you probably have huge bulbs (I've never seen a small one when digging into mine), it is unlikely you will have many blooms next season, if at all.

Hopefully though you will have some bloom in 2007 and more in 2008. They take quite a while to get well established.

The other possibility is Amaryllis belladonna, but Lycoris squamigera is far more common in the US.
