First Order from The Lily Garden

Hi Everyone!

I received my first order from The Lily Garden about a week ago. I AM impressed.

First of all, I placed the order on a Saturday and received the bulbs the next Friday Â less than a week after mailing the order via snail mail! WOW! I was hoping for a 2-3 week turnaround, knowing that I was ordering late in the season. Just in case the order was delayed, I had dug the holes in advance.

I ordered:

ÂBlack BeautyÂ Yippee:) Nice looking bulb.
speciosum var. rubrum. The bulb sent was HUGE Â as big as my fist, with living roots!
ÂVivaÂ X 3. I received 3 ÂKaren NorthÂ as substitutes! The bulbs were not large, but IÂm not complaining:)
ÂChambertainÂ X3 . I received 3 nice size bulbs.

I was given a large Sarabande as a freebie.

All were in great condition.

.. wow lucky you.. you will definitely not mind the substitution when they bloom next year. That is a VERY NICE lily.

I agree:) I would have been happy to receive the Viva as ordered, but was delighted to receive the Karen North subs. There was no way to loose either way. Such a deal!

Some of The Lily Garden's varieties have naturally small bulbs. Viva is one of them. Other bulbs are gargantuan (Scheherezade is a good example).

I have no complaints at all after three years running of ordering from The Lily Garden, other than some of my markers got dislodged by tree guys one early spring, and I now have only a vague idea which lily is blooming so beautifully in a given spot. Like that's The Lily Garden's fault? I might as well blame them for me going outside to plant my just-received bulbs in a snowstorm because I was so excited I couldn't wait a couple days for the weather to clear ! (in other words, no complaints other than my own silly addictions...)

Hi Lisa!

I agree, ItÂs hard to figure out a system to identify plantings:/ IÂve tried markers of various materials: they get lost or faded. IÂve made planting site maps: they are helpful, but not perfect either. So far, maps work the best for me.
