Trimming Lucky Bamboo

Posted by cultivation (My Page) on

I have these two lucky bamboo plants and they are very overgrown. Where should I trim them? There is new growth towards the bottom, I don't really like how it looks though. Should I keep it?

RE: Trimming Lucky Bamboo

You can clean a knife or scissors with alcohol to sterilize it. Then simple cut off the bamboo in the middle of the stalk and put the top of the stalk in water and it will slowly spout new roots. Make sure the leaves don't touch the water, only the stalk does because a leaf in water can rot and make the water bad. Or if you leave those little spouts grow long enough to become many little bamboo stalks you can then snap them and make many new plants.

If you butcher the bamboo and bury it, it'll grow into many new plants given time and the right condition for growing.

If it wasn't for the fact that it grows slowly indoors I think it would have become an invasive species.
