white leaves? fertilizer necessary?

Hi,

I've had my lucky bamboo plants in a jar of water for about 6 months now. They looked good until recently, when some of the leaves are starting to lose their color (looks like younger leaves). Is this a nutrient deficiency? Do I need to fertilize at all? If so, would a standard liquid fertilizer work?

The leaves in darker rooms are more green and a plant grown in bright light may have lighter colored leaves.

The plant does need some nutrients. It would require the lightest fertilizing possible.

Personally, I am going to plant my bamboo in soil. I am new to this plant and I could not imagine how it could live on water alone! Below is a post to a really good writing about lucky bamboo on this forum. Perhaps it will help.
