is my bamboo a lucky bamboo or normal bamboo

i have had a lucky bamboo for almost a year now, and its doing just fine, and a few months ago i got a bunch of bamboo and put it next to my lucky bamboo. the room that it is in is my bed room and its pretty well light by sunlight alone. the bunch of bamboo contained one long curly bamboo and at the tip is a wax like green thing and i don't know if the plant store that i got it from did that or it was done naturally. anyways the curly bamboo has started to collect webs and that is from spider mites and i fixed that but at the tip where the wax like thing is its starting to turn yellow and if i water with the smallest drop it starts to smell weird and to little the other bamboo get to little water. the other bamboo in the bunch are just fine... can anyone help me please

When they cut the bamboo, some places put wax over it to seal off that end. It sounds like your bamboo may be rotting under the wax cover.

Does the whole plant smell when you water it, or just the tip?

its the whole plant but i fixed that i over watered it. its still alive but whats the purpose of the wax tip?

To seal it. It keeps the plant from loosing moisture and nutrients from the cut and also keeps fungus and insects from attacking it at the wound.

Its a living thing. Just like if you got a cut you would put something over it.
