Bamboo Blues for a Neophyte

I have some seriously sad Bamboo. I bought them last year and I have always kept them in gravel with water. But recently they took yellow. I have been reading the forum and I see a lot of people talk of planting them. I have pots and soil, but before I put them to dirt I would like to be sure.

Hi! I planted mine 6 months ago and it's doing fine. In fact, I've started several cuttings of plants in vases full of water to grow a few roots before planting in soil and it works fine. I just water them a bit heavily at first. Now I water once a wek as with my other foliage plants.
