Autumn Fantasy dying?

Posted by dannamson WA (My Page) on

My maple tree is not doing well. Last year, it was in the process of budding and then it stopped (no leaves). I was still hoping as the branches are still pink. I thought it was caused by the wrong fertilizer (I used the same one I had for rhododendron) and it would recover as maple is pretty resilient. BUT, it looks worse now as the branches are turning black.
Anything I can do to revive it? Thanks!

RE: Autumn Fantasy dying?

You could have killed it by over fertilizing and then not watering it in our dry summers. I never fertilize my in ground Japanese maples. Don't need to.
Did it recover?
