Acer Campestre 'Carnival' Dormancy Question

I live in San Francisco (Zone 10) and have a lovely two year old Acer Campestre 'Carnival' tree. The problem is that it does not seem to go dormant for very long, and does it at the wrong time of the year. Last year it lost its leaves in June (we have foggy, chilly summers) and then leafed out again in November, after a warmish fall. Here we are in January and the tree looks leafy and beautiful. Does anyone have any experience with this? Will it go on like this, or will the tree's life be shortened by this unusual schedule? The climate here is such that it rarely gets above 75 or below 40. The tree is planted in the shade. Thanks to anyone who can advise me about this.
