Maples and wells

Hi all!

I'm going to be putting 5 or 6 JMs into the ground in our next warm spell. We have a lot of them here in MD.
These are trees that have survived a couple of years in full, debilitating southern Maryland sun, so they're more than ready.

My concern is about my well and where it runs to my house. I know willows are a very bad idea, but do maples follow water sources like willows? How far away should I be planting them from the well and pipes?

If I had my way, I'd plop one directly on top to hide the ugly thing but that would be bad for both the well and my tree.

Any advice?

I would plant these trees in a location that is not near the well.
