| I discovered today, that most of the bark has been removed from the branches of a Sango kaku bonsai in my garden, probably the work of a squirrel or rabbit. The trunk appears to have not been attacked. Can anyone give me suggestions that might save this tree? The sap will be starting to run in my neck of the woods very soon (Sullivan County NY). I imagine that this may have a disastrous effect. Should I remove all the denuded branches? Any help would be appreciated; I would hate to lose this specimen that I've had for many years. |

| Can you post any photos? As long as the trunk bark is intact or very nearly so, the tree itself should recover although some branch loss may be forthcoming. Personally I'd wait until the tree is completely out of dormancy and fully leafed out before making any decisions regarding removal. But pics would sure help :-) |
