Tree placement

Hi,

I just moved into a new one story ranch house in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia. I want a to plant some trees that will grow very fast, so I have elected to plant an Autumn Blaze instead of a October Glory. I know I will get some grief for this, but it is to my understanding that the AB just grows substantially faster than the OG, and I want something that will grow very fast.

Do you think the maple will be too overpowering for a moderate sized yard in front of a one story house? I am also thinking about planting a red dogwood in the back and am wondering if perhaps I should plant the dogwood in front and the maple in the back instead.

Thanks.
