| Hello,
I baught a 15 gallon coral bark Japanese maple.I am planning to transfer it in the near future to a larger glazed ceramic pot.I noticed that the nursery where I baught it planted it in the 15 gallon black pot with the rootball burlap. I heard that barlap is biodegradable.Should I remove it during transfer to a bigger pot or just leave it as it is?I appreciate a feedback on this.Thank you.JM. |

| I agree. First, not all burlap is easily biodegradable - a lot has been treated to resist decay to lengthen its usefulness in a nursery setting. And even untreated burlap can break down slowly, interferring with natural root growth. The burlap is there for the convenience of the nursery grower, not for the health of the plant. Get rid of it. |
