| I am just curious about a couple of trees in the backyard of the house. I am toying with the idea of trying to tap a maple for syrup, so I was wondering if a.) either of these is a maple, and b.) what type. Thank you for your input!

| It does look like a Sugar Maple but It is hard to tell from the pictures. As for Maple syrup, It takes about 100 gallons of sap to produce 1 gallon of syrup. Tapping maples can be a source for insects and disease to enter a tree. You say that these are in your back yard. If these trees are an important part of your landscape I would leave them alone. |
