there are several types of "coral bark" maples.

i would guess shin deshojo for the 5 lobed leaves and the red fall color.

thank you Houston Texas, I think you're right. The 2nd post picture is the REAL Sango kaku based upon all my research and the 1st photo is not. I checked all the attributes of the 'Shindeshojo' and found that it is not in line with this JM. The Imposter Tree has a bright red bark, Spring and Summer shows Green leaves while fall is bright red leaves with bright red twigs. The Shindeshojo's leaves are red in spring. Although both have leaves of 5 lobes.Any other suggestions?

I have a lot of Deshojo and Shindeshojos in my garden. The bark is gray with some parts reddish near the buds. The bark is not red as in your photo.

I'm thinking, It may be a 'Winter Flame' but I haven't found enough photos online to compare the way it would look Red Bark and Red Leaves in Winter. If anyone has a 'Winter Flame' and can post a pic of Spring, Summer and Fall, that would be helpful and much appreciated.

Hi, folks, I planted this tree a few weeks ago...purchased as Sango Kaku.
Since we're talkin' Kakus, I thought I'd post a pic. This maple is replacing
the photinia immediately behind it.
