Paperbark maples with different color buds/leaves

Good morning,

I have two young paperbark maples I just purchased and planted last fall. This Spring one is budding and leafing out in red (similar to the fall leaf color), while the other is the typical green. Are there different sub-species of this tree or could one be crossed with something else? I am sure they are paperbarks due of course to the peeling bark and leaf shape. They are both great, just curious.

Thanks
