i have a small Emperor 1 and a few other small JMs outside in the Texas heat for about a month now. They are all in pots, the green leaf ones are showing a little bit of leaf scorch. The E1 is fine so far. nice purple color, no leaf scorch.

I have Emperor One as well.

I'm looking for a recommendation on tall & skinny.
Mature height isn't important.
I love red, but the shape is the dominant factor.
I might already own what I'm looking for, but the descriptions vary so depending upon growers' region.
That's why I'm looking for someone from the areas I mentioned, such as you !

Your Emperor One will develop into a very nice, very sun tolerant tree. I can also tell you it's pretty drought tolerant once it's established, too.

'Twombly's Red Sentinal'. Generally considered to be one of the most 'columnar' forms of J. maple -- about 15' tall at maturity with a spread of 7-8'. And very sun tolerant.
