Old trunk injury help please

Have an Oct.Glory Maple 5 yrs. old-mower injury 2 yrs ago.

Scar is dry but I am concerned critters, disease can enter wound. I usually spray that black wound cover, keep it dry and clean. Should I do something more? Will this injury never heal over? Shes gorgeous in fall-does appear in good health. Thank you any advice-this is a wonderful tree.

There's no need to use wound products. The tree looks fine actually. That's healed over nicely.

Dax; thank you for reassurance. I am in z4-5--zone error. this tree a real beauty. I thought(hoped) the wound opening would fill in from the outside edges as a wound might on a human. Too much to hope for,huh?
