The best you can hope for, if you also provide a pic of the whole tree, is to narrow it down to a couple of dozen cultivars. Also, any other info like where it was purchased, conditions where its growing, size, anything at all would help.

As previously mentioned,it's always a bit of a shot in the dark.AP 'Suminagashi' ticks all the boxes but then again I've got lots of seedlings with a similar look.Is it grafted?

This is fun...but difficult, so many red cultivars. I agree with houzi and tj, a photo of the whole tree would help greatly. I dont think its a 'Suminagashi' ive been growing one for many years and will post leaf photos later this evening if you want.

Here's a photo of it in the pot. The graft is pretty low. Going in the ground this fall. Looks fairly upright. Thanks for your help.
