This is my first ever tree. It's growing lovely so far. However today when I was checking the soil I noticed that the roots (very fine) are growing up into the top part of the soil instead of growing down below the soil. I thought maybe I had piled too much soil at the base, so I just lightly removed some of the soil and added fresh rotted bark mulch, just enough to cover those very fine roots.

Will my tree be okay? Why do the roots grow like this? Can someone please shed a little light on this for me? Thank you all.
