Maple tree?

I have a maple tree that a landscaper planted about 3-4years ago.I am not sure of the exact species but it's not a japanese maple its a maple with regular red leaves(I am sorry not very tree literate) not the split leaf.

The tree grew in crooked even though I supported the tree the first year I neglected supporting there after. In any event it is about 8 to 10 feet tall and growing at an angle,is there anything I can do?

First, figure out what you have, if it is a Maple... the leaves are all dark red right now?

If you are sure it is not a Bloodgood type Japanese Maple, then if the leaves are dark reddish purple now then it could be a Norway Maple.

Norway Maple grows into a large tree, so if it is growing quite crooked by now you probably should just cut it down and buy another tree, to be on the safe side.

I did a search for pictures of maple trees and I am 99% sure it is a boxelder maple.The pictures of the leaves resemble the leaves on my tree,3-5 leaflets on the leaf stem.

The other thing I noticed is the tree looks like it is trying to correct itself, I mean the trunk is at a slight angle but the taller it gets, its trying to straighten itself out. It is more like an offset in the tree instead of the angle following all the way through.
