Oh boy Green worms

Hi all,

I have several JM specimens... and about 3 weeks ago I realized that the leaves were all being eaten by green worms... especially my Tam and Sangu. I used Bonide systemic on them twice with 10-12 days rest inbetween. It got rid of the worms but it did some major damage to alot of the other leaves and branches....There is alot of new growth, mind you, but tons of dead, dried leaves and black branches... Any suggestions.. and should I prune the black branches back...

Normally my Tam is full and gorgeous at this time.. but now its basically, almost balding.

Any suggestions would be great!

First suggestion - don't use that chemical any more!! There are plenty of gentle, organic products out there that will dispatch caterpillars.

Second suggestion -leave them alone! Your plants have already been subjected to a tremendous amount of stress. Don't make it worse by pruning. Give the plants a chance to recover. Next year you can prune out any truly dead material.

OH CRAP!! I pruned my Sangu back a bit on Friday night.. they all seem to be doing well though....gave them some fert. and watered them since we are having a strange hot spell this weekend. Remarkably, they are doing okay.. I will leave them alone for good until the fall.
